[Note: the bathroom scale has been reading 5 lbs. lighter for several weeks now.]
Me: Did you adjust the scale recently?
Michael: Yes, I fixed it today.
Me: Oh. But it's been off for several weeks now. Did you adjust it awhile ago?
Michael: No, I'm sure you knew that the earth's gravitational field was deteriorating, so that's probably it.
Me: Oh, and you just need to adjust for it, like Leap Year?
Michael: Something like that.

It's totally the gravitational pull...didn't you read about that in the manual?
A relative-of-a-relative once went to buy a new bathroom scale. She tried out several and then, in all seriousness, informed the store clerk that she wasn't going to buy any because "all his scales weighed heavy." Guess she needs to read up on gravitational forces, too. Good thing we've got Michael to keep all of us bloggers straight.
