Full house

So we had barely gotten our toes back under us from the trip to Oregon when Oma came to visit us for the weekend. We had a wonderful time with her, during which she got us a baby monitor, a bath mat, and a napkin holder. Oma's not keen on surprises, so the advantage of shopping with her for presents is that you always get exactly what you want and need. She duly admired Jane, and was sorry to go on Sunday evening. Michael attended Fiddler rehearsal while I took her to the airport, and then we came home at last, intending to finally recuperate this week.

Then yesterday morning I got a call from a VA friend, saying that her daughter's connecting flight to FL had been cancelled and she was stranded at the airport. Could I rescue her? Of course! Down went Jane and I to the airport, and we had the nicest impromptu visit, during which we taught our guest how to play Clue.

Michael: Well, I'm going to make a real shot in the dark here...
Me: Ah, ha, ha! Let me guess. It was the revolver!

Fortunately the flight was rescheduled. So this morning I drove to the airport for the fourth time in five days. It has been lovely, but the computer's residing in the guest room means that I've been going through severe email and blog withdrawal for many a day, with only hurried snatches here and there to admire Meredith. I'm looking forward to having Life return to normal.
