Equinox

Hurrah, it's the First Day of Fall, and in just over a month we'll get to sleep in for an extra hour! The grass is growing more slowly now, allowing us to go for at least two weeks between mowings, but the crickets are as healthy as ever. Last night they were going at it full blast all night long, right outside our bedroom window. I just tuned them out, but Michael said they kept him awake. 'What kind of creatures would sit outside our bedroom window and rub their legs together all night long? Why can't they just get a life?'

Yeah we get to sleep in an extra hour that first morning... but is it worth it to gain an hour of sleep in the morning if you give up an hour of daylight at night? It's getting darker earlier...soon it'll be dark driving home and those of us who work in windowless rooms will be in the dark all day. Yeah-rah. ;) SM

True, it's a trade-off, and one in which we lose out (at least if you believe that sleep gotten before midnight is healthier for the body). But psychologically it sure FEELS nice!
