Swimsuits and standards

I have finished reading Cheaper By The Dozen aloud to Michael and am now on the sequel, Belles On Their Toes, one of the rare cases where the sequel is every bit as good as the original. It's interesting to see how drastically the culture has changed since that time (the Roaring Twenties), in that nowadays, at least in mainstream America, the one-piece bathing suits are the more modest, conservative models, while the two-piece suits are the modern, daring, skimpy types. Just the reverse: back then, two-piece suits consisted of inner and outer garments, while one-piece suits were tighter, generally sleeveless, and often came above the knees.
