I have the oddest dreams sometimes, and I generally remember all my dreams pretty vividly. Michael never remembers his dreams, so I get to monopolise our morning conversations. 'What did you dream about last night?' 'I can't remember.' 'Oh. Well, anyway, listen to this...'
This is the second night in a row that I dreamed about Kevin and Amy, and I think it's because I have their blog bookmarked, since they have such a tidy directory of all the other blogs I like to read too, so theirs is the one I read the most. Two nights ago I dreamed I was answering phones at HSLDA, and got a call for Nathan Richmond. Duh, I thought, Nathan Richmond doesn't work here anymore. When Kevin and Amy got back from lunch I gave the message to them, but I was laughing so hard I couldn't even explain why I was giving the message to them instead of Nathan's replacement. Maybe I thought Kevin and Nathan were still living in the Hall's basement. I still want to laugh when I think of my dream-self thinking so clearly, Duh, Nathan Richmond doesn't work here anymore. Duh! Neither do Kevin, Amy, or Rose!
Then last night Amy invited me over to help her pick tomatoes. Their new house had a wonderful garden but it had gotten away from the previous owner and was pretty weedy, and there was a huge tomato patch with tons of tomatoes. I showed Amy how to make fried green tomatoes, and I remember explaining to her matter-of-factly, 'Oh, that's just one of the things you learn to do when you live in the South.' How random is that?

Oh my gosh - that's very random. Makes me wish we lived closer and you COULD visit. Makes me also wish we HAD a tomato garden. ;-) Don't you just love dreams? The weirder they are, the better.

The crazy dream bug must be going around this week because Nathan had the strangest dream as well. . . .He and his dad were riding around on horses with rifles when this speedy gonzales skunk started zipping around the horses. When they finally caught up to the skunk in an ally it had jumped into its space pod and was zipping around again. The protective space pod frustrated Nathan because shooting it was to no avail anymore. :-P
We have weird dreams so often comparing notes is almost a morning ritual. DOB's invariably involve saving the world/his family from various evils, when they aren't replays of his work day. I generally dream either about exploring mazelike buildings or family projects. The other day I dreamed my siblings and I were putting on an enormous "Victorian Days" festival, with various lecturers, sporting events, games, etc., all appropriately themed. It sounded like it was going to be a blast, although I don't know why we would have chosen the Victorian era.
I'm the dreamer in our household (boy, isn't that surprising?). I hate Darren's dreams; they occur only when he's under stress, and they usually involve something terrible happening to me, the kids, or the car. His three greatest fears.
I remember reading in a pregnancy book that in the third trimester (I think), "Your dreams may become more vivid." I told Darren that if my dreams became any more vivid, I'd start interpreting them. -- SJ
Sadly, I'm like Darren. When I dream anything other than tragedy, it is so rare, I begin looking for the hidden message from God. :) Sarah Mehrens, now she is a good dreamer. If you could draw her dreams, you would have a fine modern art gallery.
